1. BARE INFINITIVE (ñoäng töø nguyeân maãu khoâng to)
* Sau caùc MODAL VERBS: CAN, COULD, MAY, MUST, SHOULD, OUGHT TO, MIGHT
S + modal verb + Vinf
(-) S + modal verb + not + Vinf
(?) Modal verb + S + Vinf?
a). HAVE TO + Vinf
- Duøng ñeå dieãn taû yù “caàn phaûi laøm gì”
Ví duï: I have a very important test tomorrow. I have to study tonight.
- Neáu chuû töø laø ngoâi thöù ba, soá ít , ta duøng has to
Ví duï: He has a very important test tomorrow. He has to study tonight.
- Neáu muoán dieãn taû söï vieäc trong quaù khöù, ta duøng had to
Ví duï: I had to study last night.
Chuùng ta caàn löu yù laø have to, has to , had to ñöôïc söû duïng nhö moät ñoäng töø thöôøng neân khi ñoài sang theå nghi vaán (Interrogative) hoaëc theå phuû ñònh (Negative) ta möôïn trôï ñoäng töø “to do”.
Ví duï:
- Does he have to study tonight? - Yes, he does.
- She doesn’t have to study tonight.
- They didn’t have to study last night.
b). MUST + Vinf
- Cuõng gioáng nhö have to, “must” dieãn taû yù caàn phaûi laøm gì. Must nhaán maïnh vaøo söï baét buoäc, taàm quan troïng cuûa söï vieäc hoaëc khoâng coøn söï löïa choïn naøo khaùc.
Must laø moät trong nhöõng ñoäng töø ñaëc bieät.
Ví duï:
- He must do it now.
- You must not come late.
- Must he stay in his room ?
Must dieãn ñaït 1 phoûng ñoaùn khaù chaéc chaén
Ví duï:
He isn’t at home. He must be in the garden. ( ôû hieän taïi)
He was late this morning. He must have stayed up late last night. (ôû quaù khöù)
c). OUGHT TO + Vinf
- Duøng ñeå dieãn taû moät lôøi khuyeân “neân laøm gì”
- Ought to cuõng laø moät trong nhöõng ñoäng töø ñaëc bieät.
Ví duï:
- He ought to get up earlier.
- He oughtn’t to get up late.
2* Sau ñoäng töø HELP
Ex: How can you help prevent the cold?
3* Sau ñoäng töø MAKE + O + Vinf
EX: The medicine will make you feel better
4* Sau ñoäng töø HAVE + sb + Vinf ( Nhôø ai laøm vieäc gì)
Ex: He has me buy the food.
5* Sau caùc caáu truùc :
LET me tell you about my life.
LET’S go to the cinema.
Why don’t we go to the cinema.
Would you stand there please ?
You had better buy this hat.
6* Sau Used to + Vinf
Ex: I used to get up late last year
7* SO AS TO + Vinf / IN ORDER TO + VINF
Ex: She went to school early in order to review her lesson.

Hai ñoäng töø thöôøng ñi lieàn nhau:
AGREE to come (ñoàng yù)
AIM to do (nhaém ñeán)
APPEAR to be (coù veû)
ARRANGE to go (saép xeáp) ASK to do the homework
ATTEMPT to buy (coá gaéng)
BEG to eat (van xin)

HAVE OPPORTUNITY + TO VINF
Ex: I have an opportunity to meet her
IT TAKES + (O) + TIME + TO INF
Ex: It takes (me) twenty minutes to walk to school.
