Volunteers wanted! Dorset Heritage is always looking for people to help us at our three castles, five monuments and two areas of natural beauty, including the amazing Dinosaur Coast. Whatever you are interested in, we have something which you can help us with. If you have a few hours of leisure time at the weekend, you can work in the gardens of one of the castles or work in one of our gift shops. If you don’t mind getting your gloves dirty, you can clean up the beach on the Dinosaur Coast after the tourists have gone home – and left their rubbish!! If you can offer us a morning or an afternoon each week, every week, we sometimes need people to train as guides – ask the manager of the site if that work is available when you come to volunteer. The work is for people who are local to each landmark, but we run buses for tourists several times a day to and from the nearest town in every case, and volunteers can catch the buses for free. Are you in the building profession – or were you in the past? At the ruins of Raleigh Castle, we need builders who can repair dangerous stonework. At the ancient Roman temple near Weston, we need help replacing part of the wall which protects the monument from visitors. This wall ensures that the 100,000+ people who visit the site each year can admire it – but only from a distance. You don’t need to contact us. Just come to the site where you would like to help. We look forward to seeing you! |
